yap: part one

Recently, I was blessed with the opportunity to work with Pacific Missionary Aviation for six weeks, on the remote island of Yap, Micronesia. It was a great time to learn about mechanics, God, and what I'll face as I pursue a career as a missionary pilot-mechanic. The people there, especially Amos and Heidi Collins, PMA's resident missionaries on Yap, and Petrus, the PMF pastor, and his family, were more than kind to us the whole time we were there.

Please enjoy these photos of one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. I'll add more photos throughout the week.




I started out with a couple days in Guam to meet the founder of PMA, Ed Kalau, as well as see some operations of PMA on that island.






...and then I found myself in Yap.












Oh my goodness the stale "oreos" this place sold were worth traveling across the whole Pacific to get.








Having a friend, Brian, from LeTourneau certainly made the trip a whole lot easier.


It was also fun to run into friends from home, 6535 miles from home.


Amos was a wealth of mechanical, missionary, and aviation knowledge, when we weren't being fired.






The coconut trees were significantly easier to climb in Yap.
