stalking the police

So today while I was taking pictures around the San Marcos Foothills, I noticed what looked like a SWAT team truck and a large amount of squad cars. I had already heard some sharp popping noises when I was on the other side of the hill. I walked around some trees and started taking pictures.


What I saw at first:






Then some movement:




And a lot of shouting orders of coming out, dropping a weapon, walking and laying down:




And they moved in... with blue guns:






And had a chit chat about how they all did. Turned out to be a drill. Very cool to watch though. Our guys know what they're doing in Santa Barbara.



Would have been nice to see that coming in. No barriers or air support was a bit suspicious too.

rainy day breakers at campus

A couple days ago I got the invite to get some more surfing pictures with Joe. Here they are. The day was rainy, cold and choppy but some waves were there to be had at Campus.

san marcos vs ventura basketball game

This was the first basketball game I've ever taken pictures at, and the experience was interesting. I never realized how little light there is during a game in the Thunder Hut. Anyway, we fought hard but lost, if to the defending CIF champs. Great game and better luck next time Royals. I wish I had a few more shots of actual points being made, but there happened to be a student section in the way.

beartrap and hoards of ladys

Last weekend, I went backpacking to a campground north of Ojai called Beartrap. This frigid camp is tucked behind a pine-forested ridge that puts sunset right around 2 PM. The morning warmth brings the awakening of a hoard of ladybugs, who call this place their home.
